I have a confession to make: I love Lori Wick books. I think I started reading them when I was in 7th grade, and I’m pretty sure I’ve read every one she’s ever written. They aren’t what I’d call deep, thought-provoking books – they’re Christian novels – but I really like them.
Recently, I began to think about the fact that I had basically none of her books. All of the ones I’d read belonged to my mom or I’d borrowed them from the library. Now I know that we’re moving in less than 2 months, but I just had to buy some of them. Yes, this means more occupied space in the moving truck and more boxes to haul, but too bad! I needed some reading material for our vacation, and so on Thursday I just up and decided to go to the bookstore and buy some.
The thing is, Borders and Barnes and Noble don’t really have a good supply. Most of their Christian fiction centers around new releases, and they certainly don’t carry a whole line of an author’s works. I did some investigating and found a Christian bookstore near to where we live. It’s odd – I used to love going to Christian bookstores, but things have been confusing spiritually over the last two years. I was actually kind of nervous to go into one! It’s like I thought that as soon as I walked in, people would point at me and call me out on my spiritual doubts.
Well obviously, that didn’t happen. I went to the bookstore and ended up coming away with 12 of Lori Wick’s books. I’ve already read 3 of them, ha ha! At this rate, I’m not going to have anything left for vacation, so I’ve put the rest away. Here’s what I ended up getting…

That’s a lot of reading material! I was kind of embarrassed when I went to the checkout, but the lady behind the register started talking about how much she loved Lori Wick books, too, and she ended up giving me $20 off my total purchase. How nice was that?
This reintroduction to Christian fiction has got me thinking – I’m kind of behind on what’s out there and what’s good to read. Do any of you have some suggestions or favorites? If so, I’d love to hear them.

oh yeah and for a really good non-Christian author you should read some of Jodi Picoult's books 🙂 she writes on a wide range of topics. One of her books, My Sisters Keeper, is about to be released as a movie starring Cameron Diaz and Abigail Breslin etc.
I've never heard of Lori Wick, I haven't read too much Christian literature (only what B&N sells) but I'm always on the look out for new books/authors. Thanks for the tip!
so glad you were able to find some. our churche's library has a lot of her books, but i have yet to check out any.
janette oke is a really good author. my favorite christian/romance/adventure/mysterybooks is the stonewycke series. love it. those are by Michael Phillips and Judith Pella. I hope this was helpful….

I love love love Lori Wick books…The Princess (by Lori Wick) is one of my favorite books!
I also love to read books by Karen Kingsbury, Robin Lee Hatcher, Terri Blackstock and Dee Henderson.
I love Nicholas Sparks and Stephenie Meyer…but they are non-christian authors.

Haven't heard of Lori Wick but will have to see if my local Christian bookstore stocks her stuff 🙂 I would recommend (if you haven't already) reading any by Franciner Rivers, Dee Henderson and Karen Kingsbury. Janette Oke books i read as a kid but enjoyed them though 🙂

my absolute favorite christian author is Francine Rivers, she is awesome. Redeeming Love was the first book of hers that I read and I cried my eyes out. I guess I really related to the main character.There is also the Lion Series. Awesome! Good luck.

I consider Lori Wick my guilty little secret. I *adore* her books but since I'm supposed to be all "intellectual" I try to hide it…which is lame of me.
Seriously, her books are so great. Total escapism. The only other Christian fiction writer I read is Karen Kingsbury, but I honestly greatly prefer LW.

I JUST picked up a couple of her books from the library a few days ago! I've never read her before, but I thought they looked good! I'm especially excited to read them now that I know how much you like them. My favorite Christian fiction author is Janette Oake. I'm a sucker for anything set in the 1800s and just LOVE her books.
I love them too!! I also like Dee Henderson & Susan May Warren. I also heard that Colleen Coble is good. =]
I haven't read any of these but am always looking for something new to read.. The only Christian fiction that I've read has been Karen Kingsbury, which I liked, but it's been a while since I've read her books too! Let me know how you like these

My favorite Christian author is Angela Hunt… I totally have to read every one of her books!!!

Another author wrote "Heavens to Betsy" & another one called "Earth to Betsy" (the follow up) & i just bought two books about a knit/lit group – found the same author wrote these too!!! She's creeping up on my favorite list!
