A Mini-Vacation to Southern Indiana

Hello my lovely readers!  I hope that your weekend was fabulous 🙂

My weekend was too short, but it’s made up for by the fact that I’ve got something fun planned for this week.  In-between work and class, we’ve decided to take a quick 2-day trip to beautiful Brown County, Indiana – specifically Nashville, Indiana (yes, there is a Nashville in Indiana!).

It was all finalized last week when I was feeling enormously overwhelmed and under pressure because of some of the things that I had seen and experienced at work.  I needed to do something to occupy my mind and distract me from what I knew would likely be a long night.  So, I started to think about traveling.  We have Marriott points saved up, and since there are no Marriott hotels in New Zealand, we need to spend them before we move.

I had mentioned visiting Brown County to Chris a few weeks back.  I believe that the original conversation went something like this:

Me – “Let’s go to Brown County this Fall, okay?”

Chris – “Alright” (spoken while staring intently at his computer)

…period of several seconds passes by…

Chris (looking up briefly from his computer) “Where is Brown County?”

Me – “It’s in Southern Indiana.”

Chris – “Ah.  Okay, whatever you want to do.”

Me – “Good!  I’ll plan a trip!  It’ll be so much fun!”

Chris unintelligible mumbling

…another period of several seconds passes by…

Chris – “And why exactly are we going to Brown County?”

Me – “To see the leaves, of course!”

Chris – “You do realize that there are leaves around here, don’t you?”

Me – “Too late – you already agreed to it!  Mwa ha ha ha!”

And that is how I conned convinced Chris into going to Nashville, Indiana with me this week 🙂  Southern Indiana really is a beautiful part of the country, especially in the Fall.  Lots of woods, hills (yes, hills in Indiana), the prettiest foliage, quaint towns (Chris will love that), and fabulous wineries (including one of my favorites – Oliver Winery).

Some of the things that I’m looking forward to the most are seeing the gorgeous state parks, walking through downtown Nashville,  seeing some of the local artists’ shops, and doing a bit of shopping.  Doesn’t it look so pretty?  Don’t you wish you were coming, too?

I love vacations, even if they’re brief!

  1. Wow that looks like such a beautiful spot to be in during Fall! Have heaps of fun and I can’t wait to see pics 🙂

I went to the other Nashville (TN) for a couple days during my time in the US and loved it! Such a cool place.. next time I’m over I’m planning to spend a lot longer there to have a proper look around.

  2. What a great idea! Sounds like a fabulous little getaway, and something that S and I should do. Mini-getaways are way underrated! Thanks for sharing your trip – I’m inspired to figure out something for us to do now too 🙂

Those pictures are amazing by the way!

  3. I really wanted to go there this fall but we opted for Elkhart. Our dog Abby loves the pet bakery, The Bone Appetit Bakery, she goes crazy for their treats. Hope you have lots of fun!
