Movies, Paul Newman

Bye, Bye, Blue Eyes

I was saddened to read today that Paul Newman passed away last night at the age of 83. He had been battling cancer for quite some time.

It’s my opinion that just about every movie that he was in or helped to produce was made better simply by his association. The fact that he donated over $250 million to charities through his “Newman’s Own” line of food is also pretty humbling. Call it coincidence, but just this week Chris and I borrowed “Cool Hand Luke” from the library. I’ve seen it before, but Chris never had and it just seems like one of those movies that a person should watch at least once during their lifetime.

I think that my favorite Paul Newman movies would have to be “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”, “Cool Hand Luke”, “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”, and “The Sting”. What were your favorite Paul Newman movies?

  1. It’s one of those movies where the hero is actually an anti-hero. It was made in the 70s, I think. It’s not the greatest movie in the world, but he did a really good job in it.
