Christmas Shopping

I am finished with all of my Christmas shopping! At least, I think that I’m finished. I have a tendency to say that I’m done, only to wait till a few days before Christmas and decide that I need to get one last thing for someone. But this year, I really think that I’m finished. I have all of Chris’ presents purchased, including his stocking stuffers. We don’t get gifts for the dog, so I can check that one off the list. I’m also fairly certain that the extended family is all covered.

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m one of 10 children. No, we aren’t Roman Catholic, there are no adoptees, no twins or triplets, no half-siblings… just 10 kids + 2 parents. Of the 10 of us kids, 5 are married: Cindy + Dan, Shelly + Sam, Dirk + Becca, Erik + Angie, and Chris + me. I can tell you what I got the married couples, since they’ve already received their gifts. We got them personalized 2008 ornaments from Things Remembered. That was something that my parents always did for us when we were growing up, and I thought it would be fun + nostalgic for us to carry on the tradition. The rest of the family was pretty easy. My younger sister Valerie is graduating from Purdue this month with a degree in accounting, so we got her a Purdue business portfolio.

As for the remaining 4 (Cassie, Katrina, Kent, & Lance) – you guys will just have to wait!

Then, there’s Chris’ side of the family. He is one of 5 children, 4 of whom are married. There’s his 2 older half brothers & their wives (Tom + Lynnette, Kevin + Lisa), and then there’s his younger brother + his wife (Michael + Anna). Poor Nicki is the only girl in the family, and she’s already gotten her Christmas presents: a book and DVD.

As for Michael + Anna, we got them a… sorry! You two will have to wait, too! I promise that it’ll be in the mail by tomorrow 🙂

The parents and in-laws are also all set. On my side of the family, all 10 kids went in together for my parents (which is what we typically do). For the in-laws, Chris and I went in with Michael, Anna, and Nicki to get them something that I think they’ll really appreciate, and even more importantly, actually use!

I’m almost done with the wrapping, too. The only problem is that I went to Wal-Mart, bought 2 rolls of wrapping paper, and there was enough paper for me to be able to wrap a grand total of 5 presents. Only 5 presents!!! Talk about cheap! Chris is going to swing by Costco tonight to get some more, which probably means we’ll have enough wrapping paper for the next 5 Christmases 🙂

How are the rest of you coming on your Christmas shopping?

  1. I'm jealous…. I have no one marked off the list & with a busy schedule – I'm not sure how its going to get done at this point! UGH!

  2. Wow…and I thought my list of people to buy for was long. Kudos to you for being done early. I have 4 siblings and I think that our “big” family is great…being on of 10 must be a trip!!
