Countdown to Thanksgiving

*Don’t forget to check out my review and enter to win the free book!*

I’m sitting here with wet hair, wearing my scrubs, trying to work up the energy to go upstairs and finish getting ready for work.  I’m working till 6:30am tomorrow.  After I get home, we’re hopping in the car and making the 3 hour trek south to have Thanksgiving with my family.  I’m excited to see people that I haven’t seen in over a year – namely, some of my sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.  I got home from work this morning around 6:30 and started right in on making my delicious broccoli slaw salad.  I plan to bring it for Thanksgiving tomorrow, and I’ve already warned Chris (and myself) against eating any for dinner tonight.  It’s so good that one serving just isn’t enough!

I don’t have any plans to go shopping on Black Friday.  I know that some people really get into it, but I never have.  I prefer to shop online and find free shipping deals, as well as using Ebates.  I might consider venturing into the shopping frenzy if we were in the market for a new TV or other electronics, but it’s not worth it this year!

Another reason why I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving is that it means that I have five days off.  There should be a little bit of a halo surrounding those words, because the fact that I was able to have 5 days in a row off work while not having to use vacation time is just shy of miraculous.  I’m thankful to my co-worker M who asked me to trade days with her – without that, I would have to be back at work Friday night.  Yuck.

Alright, I’m starting to get a chill from sitting here with damp hair.  I hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, wherever you are and whatever your plans are 🙂

  1. Happy Thanksgiving!! It was fun for us Kiwis at my workplace getting to celebrate it today (NZ time) because we have an American lady as one of the managers. One of the other managers had decided to organise for hot dogs, pumpkin pie and hersheys kisses for Thanksgiving lunch to make her feel a little bit at ‘home’ with some Americana 😉 we all enjoyed it!

  2. Have a good day/night at work! Do you get Holiday pay for tonight? That’s the one (and possibly only) thing I miss about working in the hospital! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your husband!

  3. Enjoy your days off and trip to see family! I’ll be shopping from the comfort of home on the good ol’ internet on Black Friday as well. I just don’t have the patience for the malls and other big box stores!
