Labor Day Weekend Wrap-Up

Hi Everyone! I hope that you had a great Labor Day weekend. Chris and I spent most of it doing work, but we were able to do a couple of fun things…

1. On Friday, we went to LongHorn Steakhouse. I had never been there before, and in the past really have not liked steakhouse restaurants, but my mother-in-law had a $75 gift card for there that she couldn’t use, so she gave it to us. It was actually very good! Chris got the “The Renegade” steak dinner. I’m not a big meat eater, so I just ordered one of the “extras” – the jumbo lump crab bake – mmm mmmm! It was definitely comfort food. My dessert for the night was their signature blueberry-pomegranate margarita, also extremely good.

2. Saturday was spent studying, at least by me. I am studying like crazy for NCLEX and will probably be doing that for several hours today as well.

3. Sunday we went to church. The church is small, but we have met some really friendly people. We have already gotten 1 dinner invitation from a couple, and the pastor is planning on stopping by the house this week for a “get to know you” visit. Finding a good church here was so important to both of us, and for awhile, I was starting to get sad and thought that we would never find one. This church has been very welcoming, and I love the way that they hold morning services outside in the grove. It is so cool here in the mornings, and sitting under all of the trees with the wind blowing is beautiful. The rest of the day was spent, once again, studying!

4. On Labor Day, I studied for several hours. At around 1 o’clock, we (Chris, Bear, & I) drove over to Borderland State Park. I was so excited to go that I completely forgot my camera, which was too bad because the park is beautiful. We walked around the Pond Loop and Pond Edge trails, and were amazed at how great the weather was. No mosquitoes, cool breeze, and just about everyone we met on the trail was smiling and saying “Hello there!”. Bear had a fabulous time. I think that his favorite part was when we were passed by 2 horse riders going in the opposite direction. Bear wasn’t intimidated by them at all – it was like he thought they were just giant dogs and wanted to go play with them 😉 We were at the park for several hours, just enjoying the good weather.

The rest of the day was spent studying some more, and we ended the night by watching Tyler Perry’s “Why Did I get Married?” I’ve seen this before, and Chris and I both really like this movie. It is a great, funny, sad, uplifting story about 4 different marriages and the troubles that married couples face, as well as the triumphs. I recommend it.

That was our Labor Day weekend – I hope that yours was just as nice!
