My Phone is Possessed

My phone is possessed, and has been for the last 2-3 months. It has a touch screen panel, and sometimes I’ll start to scroll through for something, only to have it go berserk and start scrolling through the screens at a mile a minute. I have to shut the phone off, then start all over again. Sometimes, I’ll press the touch screen buttons and nothing will happen, so I’ll press again, and again, and again, ad nauseum. Closing and reopening the phone usually corrects this problem, but not always.

And then there’s the fact that my phone will start randomly calling people in my address book. Imagine how thrilled my sister in Iowa was to get a 7am call from me, only no one was there (and they’re an hour behind us, so it was actually 6am her time)! I can’t tell you the number of times that my phone has just decided that it wants to call Chris. It’s called him from my purse while I’m at work, or from in the car as I’m driving to the hospital (at 6am, when he’s still asleep – that made him happy), or when it’s charging in the drawer.

Take tonight, for example. He’s heading home from Philadelphia, and I called to see how the drive was progressing. About 15 minutes later, I’m upstairs and I hear the phone ring. It’s Chris, wondering why I had called him. Apparently, my phone called his while he was in the middle of a conversation with his grandmother. Its also called random friends from school who still live back in the Midwest. Imagine the confusion of getting a call from a friend who lives halfway across the country, only no one is there! I’m getting embarrassed at how often I have to apologize for this!
Thankfully, I can trade in my phone in January. I will most definitely NOT be getting a similar model – you can count on that. In the meantime, if you get a call from me and no one responds, just chalk it up to the phone gremlins 🙂
