New Zealand Wins!

The All Blacks have beat France to win the RWC 2011!!!!  Yaaaaaay, New Zealand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  After everything that New Zealand has faced in the last year – the Christchurch Earthquake, the Rena Oil Spill – this win is a huge jolt in the arm 🙂  Go, the All Blacks, you beauties!

PS – Pretty cool that Piri Weepu and Brad Thorn made an unexpected visit to our church on Sunday {game day}.  I actually sat next to them and was able to meet them!  We were all pretty excited, but I had to laugh when our pastor said he “didn’t know what the big deal was – Jesus shows up to our church every Sunday!”  Too true 🙂

The party outside was amazing – fireworks, singing, people dancing in the streets… and later today, there’s going to be a parade which I will definitely attend.  Go the All Blacks!

Here’s a video of Piri Weepu leading the ABs in the haka while playing against the Aussies:

  1. Yay! What a great game, and I loved the Welly parade even in the rain, it was perfect! Hope you (and Joe) made it out to see them in Auckland, was it a crazy scene in town when the won? Last year we lived in San Francisco when the Giants won the world series… we didn’t sleep for days because the cheering and partying was non-stop!

  2. ahhh i am still buzzing! SO stoked about meeting Piri & Brad yesterday (esp Piri, he’s one of my favourite ABs) and so glad we won the cup! Was an incredible atmosphere last night on Queen Street, we danced with the masses afterwards and paraded down the street. so fun to be a part of such a historic night for NZ! i love this country 🙂

  3. Oh, I know! When we realised who it was, we all started screaming (me, Brooke, Catherine). Thankfully we were in the church nursery so they couldn’t hear us… I hope! Brooke was so excited that she accidentally knocked over Zoe, ha ha 🙂

  4. Congrats All Blacks! My college roommate was a huge fan (random for a girl from Michigan but…) What a positive victory for New Zealand and lucky you being there to enjoy the celebration!
