The Birth Story… or Lack Thereof

Hey everyone – I’ve tried multiple times to write out the story of Joe’s birth.  I’ve typed, deleted, thrown whole posts in the trash… I kept getting frustrated and wondering why I just couldn’t get it to sound the way that I wanted.

Then I realized – nothing that I write can ever convey exactly what took place, and I don’t even want to try.  It was a short labor – only 8 hours – and I was in the hospital for about 4 hours before leaving again.  I was there for less than 2 hours before he was born.  Everything went quite quickly and it was amazing.  Chris was amazing.  I had a fantastic midwife, and I’m so glad that my mom could be there from the moment that Joe entered this world.

I’ve written the story down for myself, but I don’t feel like sharing it with the internet.  There are some things that are meant just for us 🙂

  1. Beautiful! I’m so thrilled that you had such a wonderful experience. It took me three tries to get a birth like that 😉 – Well of course the arrival of the first two was just as special – just a lot longer, painful, stressful and difficult – urgh! Got easier each time for me! Erm, really don’t think I’ll be trying a fourth time though!

  2. Aw, I think some things are sacred and only belong to you…it’s up to you to decide what those things are. Thanks for the synopsis of how things went! Sounds perfect 🙂

  3. Good for you. Your labor/delivery, your life…you can choose to keep it private if you want! I have really struggled with deciding how much I want to blog about pregnancy, etc. It is so personal, yet I want to have the option to share? I go back and forth on it a lot. Regardless, you have to do what is right for you.

Hope you are recovering well and adjusting to life as a momma!

  4. Hi, I just found your blog. My husband may be taking a job in Wellington, and I’m a RN in Phoenix. Thank you for the nursing info. If this looks like it will happen, I’m sure I’ll have many questions. Congrats on your new baby!
