WE ARE MOVING TO NEW ZEALAND!!!

I have such exciting, amazing news! We are moving to New Zealand!!! Chris was offered the equivalent of an assistant professor position (they call them something else over there) at a university in Auckland, New Zealand! Yayayayayay! It’s a tenure-track job, the #1 school in New Zealand, the #4 school in Australasia, and it’s roughly in the top-50 schools worldwide for what he does. In other words, it’s a really good opportunity for him 🙂

When I first heard I screamed, then gave Chris a giant hug 🙂 The start date isn’t set yet – it may be as early as January 2010, but it’s looking more like June 2010. So, we still have 9 – 15 months before leaving the States, which means a lot of time to prepare and handle paperwork. I was SO excited and HAD to share the news!

Almost as soon as I heard, I called my parents, got them out of bed, and made them absolutely promise that they would visit when we got over there (which they did without hesitation). I’m still trying to absorb everything, but thank you so much for all of your thoughts and prayers. It’s funny, but growing up in the Midwest I don’t think it ever crossed my mind that I’d live in New Zealand. I always knew that I’d move out of state, and dreamed about living in another country, but… New Zealand! How awesome is that?!

Alright, I’m going to try to go to sleep (fat chance, but I’ve still got to try). I’m so excited! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Wow, that is great! I was just telling Mr. Guru that we needed to live in Germany for a year and travel. not really sure what they have for nurses in other countries. Let me know if you get a job as a nurse and how the process works.
