England, Scotland, and France

Just a random, flowing list of things that I’m looking forward to seeing when we leave for the UK (in 2 1/2 weeks)…

  • Various “Harry Potter” filming sites around Oxford
  • Bodleian Library
  • Oxford, in general (the town and campus)
  • Loch Lommond (when we’re in Scotland)
  • Glasgow
  • Edinburgh Castle
  • Portobello Road
  • London Eye
  • Thames river cruise
  • Changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace
  • British Museum
  • Sherlock Holmes museum (at 221b Baker Street!)
  • Bath
  • the White Cliffs of Dover
  • St. Paul’s Cathedral
  • Covent Garden
  • Westminster Abbey
  • Tower of London
  • National Gallery
  • Stonehenge
  • Jane Austen Centre
  • Tate Modern
  • Canterbury Cathedral

Valerie and I will be going to Paris when she comes for her visit (Chris and Joe are welcome to come, too, but Chris said his main reason to visit Paris again would be to get some of the hot cocoa at Angelina Cafe… so I think he’ll pass!).  While there, I hope we get to see a few things like…

  • The Louvre
  • Notre Dame
  • Angelina Cafe (this place is amazing)
  • Musee de Orsay
  • Eiffel Tower
  • And more…

We’ll be in Paris for a shorter amount of time than anywhere else, of course, so I want to be sure to hit the big spots without running ourselves ragged.  And of course, I need to remember to bring back some chocolate for Chris 🙂

  2. I have to agree w everyone else that I’m a tad jealous of the places you get to see but excited for you all the same! Can’t wait to live vicariously through your photos 🙂 even the hot chocolate!!

  3. If you’re able to make it into the Scottish Highlands, Glencoe and the surrounding area is beautiful. You can also ride the Harry Potter Hogwarts train. 🙂 I’m so excited (and a bit jealous) that you get to have this adventure. How fun!

  4. Can’t wait to ‘visit’ these places with you through your photos!!! You are going to love it all!!! Safe travels to you and your family.

  5. I remember being in the dining hall of Christ Church college where they filmed one of the Harry Potter scenes. There was a group of very excited American high school kids in front of me 🙂
